New version of Internet Explorer is out

Thank you for the update .. downloading now.

With a new, streamlined interface and tabs (WOOSH, FINALLY), I wonder if IE 7 can be as good as Firefox?

Just installed.

First impressions:
* Holy cow this is compact .. large viewing area for webpages since the toolbars up top are downsized and placed in a manner so that they don't take up as much space.

* JEEZ this is fast. Webpages are loading faster for the time being.. If things don't get bogged down and the speed stays up, IE 7 is faster than Firefox by a LONGSHOT, at least for me.

* The tabs feature is pretty cool, though it doesn't seem quite as "quick" or "responsive" as Firefox's tabs.

* The "QUICK TABS" feature (which lets you see thumbnail-sized versions of each webpage that a tab has loaded) is also pretty neat, though I don't see much of a use for it ... HOWEVER, it COULD be useful for screenshots in which someone posts a bunch of links and you have to open up those links in several tabs.

So far it's looking pretty good .. I like it alot better than the previous IE versions!

Let's not shout out how wonderful Firefox is just yet. Its a lot like the Macs. Windows, Microsoft, IE are targets. The hacker element wants to attack them, so therefore they are constantly hit, while the Mac or Firefox is viewed as the good guy. If memory serves, it wasn't long ago that Firefox was talking themselves up, and they had a bunch of security holes found almost immediately. There is going to be holes in any of them, just microsoft is such a fun and easy target [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

Considering M$ serves a good 85% (most likely more, just a conservative estimate) of the population, is it any wonder that their software is attacked as much as it is?

Like you say, those that tout the Mac, Firefox, etc. never stop to consider that if there were more than 50 people using it, then maybe a hacker would give it some attention.
